Position Title: Aged Care and Disability Coordinator
Location: Regional Office, Katherine NT

Position Type: Temporary, Immediate Start to 30/06/2018

 Full Time - 38 hour working week!
Salary Range: Level 5 - 6  Indicative $67,069.15 to $72,274.61 p/a

Plus 9.5% Super and remote area allowance of $2,058 per year!

Negotiated based on qualifications and experience

About the Role

Support management in the development and maintenance of Aged and Disability communications. Provide support and assistance to the Aged Care and NDIS Manager to implement Government Aged Care and Disability reform agendas and assist with management strategies.

Duties Include but not limited to:

1. Oversee and manage client information in Etools software program and undertake regular audits of records. Providing ongoing Etools program support, training, advice and reporting to Aged Care and Disability staff in community. 

2. Liaise with Aged Care Team Leaders in community on daily operations, informing the Aged Care and NDIS Manager of emerging developments to resolve any issues with program delivery.

3. Support the development and maintenance of Aged and Disability communications and reporting.

4. Provide support and assistance to the Aged Care and NDIS Manager to implement Government Aged Care and Disability reform agendas and assist with change in management strategies.

5. Provide high level clerical, human resources and administrative coordination support in accordance with the workflow of the Aged Care and Disability team work unit plan.

6. Effectively contribute as a team member to promote a safe and harmonious work environment.

7. Carry out any other duties as directed by the Aged Care and NDIS Manager.

About Yarralin

Yarralin, also known as Walangeri, is an Indigenous community located on the Wickham River, 389km south west of Katherine. The stunning outback location is in close proximity to the Gregory National Park and the spectacular Jasper Gorge. The community is home to 300 people and has a post office, general store, medical clinic, local manned police station and community school. Outdoor types love Yarralin with its multitude of fishing, camping and exploring opportunities. Yarralin, due to its remote location and isolation, does not have access to the mobile network or ADSL.  Internet is available through satellite and wireless.  

About the Role

Victoria Daly Regional Council has an exciting opportunity for an Aged Care and Disability team leader to join their team in Yarralin. The primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate the day to day operations and staff management of Aged Care facility in the Yarralin Community. Reporting to the Aged Care and NDIS Manager, you will have relevant tertiary qualifications, a minimum Diploma in Aged Care/ Disability or equivalent. You will be able to demonstrate extensive experience working in a community environment, with knowledge and experience of residential Aged Care, CHSP, Home Care Packages, Carer Respite and/or Disability service delivery. You will have the proven ability to lead a team and work under pressure to ensure effective delivery of services and meet deadlines. An awareness of issues affecting Indigenous people in remote locations and the ability to operate effectively in a cross-cultural environment.

Please note, the following are all requirements of this role:
Current 'C' class manual driver's licence valid in the Northern Territory
Current First Aid Certificate, with Anaphylaxis
Current Working With Children's Clearance (Ochre Card or ability to obtain)
Willingness to undergo a National Criminal History Check

About the Role

Reporting to the Yarralin Council Services Manager you will provide a high level of secretarial and administrative duties, Including but not limited to; maintaining records, initiating follow-up actions, ensuring discretion and confidentiality is adhered to and actively promote the Council’s image as an efficient and effective organisation. You'll have great organisational skills, be flexible with the ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines and required time frames, exercising initiative and attention to detail. Liaising effectively with all levels of staff within the Council, external agencies and organisations, to assist in the smooth day-to-day operations of the Yarralin Service Delivery Centre.

Recruitment Process

  1. Applications are assessed on merit by a selection panel and a short list is created to identify those applicants who warrant further consideration.
  2. At interview the selection panel will ask a series of questions in line with the selection criteria and specific duties of the position.
  3. Nominated referees may be contacted to obtain more information about you.
  4. The preferred applicant will be notified.
  5. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified.

Referee Checks

References provided by you may be contacted during the selection process.  It’s a good idea to get permission from your references before nominating them.

If you are a current employee of the Council and you have been selected for an interview and one of the panel members directly supervises you it is a requirement for you to obtain a referee report from them prior to the interview process starting.

Criminal History Checks

For all vacancies successful applicants will be required to provide a copy of their current (Issued within the last 3 months) criminal history check upon commencement. If the applicant is unable to, a copy of the receipt of submission is required.

Working with Children Clearance - Ochre Card

For some vacancies successful applicants will be required to obtain a working with children clearance upon commencement. If it is an essential requirement of the position you will be unable to commence until a valid clearance has been produced.
