About the Opportunity 

The Infrastructure and Civil Works Assistant Manager will provide a high level of support to the Manager of Infrastructure and Civil Works to ensure high standard of technical operations is delivered. Managing the technical operations team, your duties will include but not limited to; Managing allocated projects, developing budget and managing contract and delivery; Reporting to your direct Manager on operational expenditure against budget priorities; Assisting with the development of strategies that encourage employment of local indigenous people.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have high level organisational skills, project management skills, strategic planning, policy development and time management skills in a Local Government Council context. Ability to forecast, develop and manage a budget across a multifunctional area, demonstrate problem solving skills and the capacity to make decisions under pressure. You will have well developed communication skills and your previous experience working in the remote Indigenous communities is highly desirable.

About the Role

A senior position within the Council, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for contributing and implementing corporate directions, strategic plans and policies, and providing high level governance advice and guidance to the Executive, Senior Management, Council and staff.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing the affairs of a local government authority and/or organisation. You’ll have well developed oral and written communication skills and ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders and the community.

About the Opportunity

Joining the regional office team in Katherine you will be reporting directly to the Grants Manager, delivering a high level of service to the Grants Department. Assissting in the compliance and development of the contracts reporting schedule, reviewing contract payments and audit requirements to ensure Council's contract and funding provisions are adhered to. Your duties will include (but not limited to); Maintaining accurate records of all contracts; Developing and preparing regular reports and file notes on the progress and status of contracts; Supporting the contracts team and providing direction to key stakeholders and staff regarding relevant contract provisions; Managing the priorities, goals and objectives of the work unit as per reporting schedule.

About You

The successful candidate will have high level of organisational skills with attention to detail, demonstrating strong communication skills both verbal and written, with a proven ability to work in a small team. You'll be applying your advanced computer skills to play an active role in the development and ongoing maintenance of computer databases within the contract management unit. You'll be highly desired for your previous experience in the contracts field, demonstrating your strong work ethics and personal integrity.

About the Opportunity 

The Council is seeking qualified and experienced Building Tradesperson to provide a high standard of building constructions, repairs, maintenance and refurbishment works at various remote communities throughout the Regional Council. You will be working closely with staff within Council’s Community Development Programme (CDP) to provide training for local Indigenous people to assist them in achieving qualifications in all building related disciplines. Your duties will include but not limited to; Cost out required building projects, forward plan, calculate quantities, order materials and undertake building works within time lines and budget; Assist CDP to compile reports on the progress of individual traineeships and implement additional training as required.

About You

The ideal candidate will have extensive industry knowledge and practical experience in the building industry. A high level of organisational, problem solving and decision making skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with Indigenous people in remote communities.

About the Role

As a Project Officer in the regional office team in Katherine, you will be working closely with the Project Manager, assisting with the management and coordination of all works undertaken by the Technical Services Unit including project management and administration, asset management, procurement, occupational health & safety, civil and building works. You will deliver tender procedures and processes for the delivery of materials and services and compile operational progress reports.

The successful candidate will have proven project management experience in the civil and building industry including work planning, contract and procurement management, coordination management, financial management and administrative skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive relations and communications with all stakeholders and willingness to and or experience working in remote indigenous communities is highly desirable.

The Aged Care and Disability Coordinator will provide operational administrative support and assistance to the Aged Care and Disability work unit within the Victoria Daly Regional Council Region to implement government aged care and disability reform agendas and assist with change in management strategies.

The ideal candidate will have high level interpersonal and written communication skills with proven ability to work productively and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. You will be applying your high standard of computer skills to manage client information including use of software programs. Ability to travel and work in remote communities is highly desirable.

Recruitment Process

  1. Applications are assessed on merit by a selection panel and a short list is created to identify those applicants who warrant further consideration.
  2. At interview the selection panel will ask a series of questions in line with the selection criteria and specific duties of the position.
  3. Nominated referees may be contacted to obtain more information about you.
  4. The preferred applicant will be notified.
  5. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified.

Referee Checks

References provided by you may be contacted during the selection process.  It’s a good idea to get permission from your references before nominating them.

If you are a current employee of the Council and you have been selected for an interview and one of the panel members directly supervises you it is a requirement for you to obtain a referee report from them prior to the interview process starting.

Criminal History Checks

For all vacancies successful applicants will be required to provide a copy of their current (Issued within the last 3 months) criminal history check upon commencement. If the applicant is unable to, a copy of the receipt of submission is required.

Working with Children Clearance - Ochre Card
